![]() I think the League ought to be informed, if they are not already by the BHPA what the grace period is aftger the expiry date on a members card for which they are still coveered by third party insurance! That muist be a definite period and is quite easily moved from "shades of grey" to "black and white" clarity - a sign of a mature and credible sporting body !Ģ) Non-flying membership is as far as I can see only relevent for FAI cards etc when the flier is not resident and does not usually fly in the UK - it is not relevent for the UK league - if you are flying regulalry enough to enter you need BHPA FLYING MEMBERSHIP full stop - again no shades of grey! There are also various levels of BHPA membership, for example non-flying membership which is sufficient for some purposes (for example, as I understand it, getting a British FAI card subject to certain conditions) but (again, as I understand it) does not include 3rd-party insurance.<< Practically, this means that you cannot know if someone was a BHPA member or not for sure unless either they are a current member or their membership expired a long time agoĢ. I always have been a member since doing the XC league and was surprised when I found out certain eminent members of clubs were NOT BHPA registered. If you are going to tighten up the rules (a good thing) then you HAVE to let people know that previous practice will be stamped on!! Wayne was NOT aware of this, and clearly with his commitment to the real issue here (the flying) he WOULD have joined, if he had known.
